This is a picture of the new stator I hope to fit to my Series 1...

It has an external pick-up (which is magnetic, self energizing) on a Three Phase Stator... with potentially alot of current for the extra light's I intend to fit...

The is a picture of the flywheel with an aluminium fin fitted...

This flywheel powers the lights with the thin but fairly powerful magnets on the inside edge (in the picture they look a little darker than the rest of the stator) and the square raised trigger of plain steel (machined from the billet that makes the flywheel), this is to generate a spark from the magnetic pickup...

I run one of these on my GP, but that one was a prototype...

This is slightly different but the stator is identical... Weight of the flywheel is about 2.2 kg with the alloy fin fitted, but only around 1.9 kg with a plastic fin in use...But the weight is more central than an Indian stator which will reduce inertia and this could be lightened considerably more without affecting the pick-up or magnets...

The prototype stator and flywheel was on my GP when it was on the dyno and rev-ed to around 8000 rpm... but on the road its clean revving to its top speed of just over 70... Mate claims I hit 75 on his Sat Nav but Ive seen 73 on mine since the dyno, so its capable of supplying a decent spark it seems....

This later design is supposed to be better... I intend in the future to hook it up to my Oscilloscope to see what it does check the Ignition side of things also where it produces power for the lights and exactly how much before the voltage drops as I intend to try to run around 200 watts of lighting ..... till then....

the honda v-max is a very good 3 phase rectifier . ;)
