Pilot and rear light fed by battery

Hi, dont know if this has been mentioned before but I will tell you what I have done on my indian lammy. I have a small battery charged using a scootRS rectifier using a feed from the regulated side of a normal regulator. Going to use this for a rev counter.
Anyway I have run a wire off the battery and put this to the purple wire on my indian AC ignition switch (this purple wire is now disconected from bulb holder) So now when I turn ignition to first position I get a decent pilot and rear light that doesnt dim when only at tick over.
Im going to change to LED bulds so battery doesnt go flat.
