I was thinking about cooling methods for the RB and remember last year on the way to a rally one of my side panels had come away a bit and my significant other was getting a warm leg.

Could the side panel grills be used as air intake vents or to let the hot air out?

Is there anyone who has made side panel grills that work as air vents or is it not worth while?

someone on the lcgb has done them. also its worth doing the same to the rear frame grill. most brit or german scooters have a air ext vent at this point. for some reason innocenti made theirs a dummy vent. cool air in is only worth while if the hot air can come out.

its one of the theories why serveta stopped using the flap on the pertol cap, the allow air to exit and the fuel stay cool? or beacause its pointless anyway?

No, it was just the grills Aussie, although you've gave an idea with that.

Cezeta, I'll ask. Thanks.

I was considering doing a cut out at the rear grill, with maybe an adaption for better air flow exiting, but couldn't think of anything that wouldn't look stupid and didn't come up with anything. :/

Hmm.. Grilles on lammies go back to the Series 1. It was then when the grilles serve the purpose of air intake, but never for cooling. The only cooling device on a Lambretta that serves somewhat a purpose is the one in the flywheel, and even that has design flaws... I can't think of another machine with the cylinder in such an awkward position in respect to the coming air anyway. What a hell of a turn around it has to do to get to where it needs to go!
But why stop the nice warm feeling of hot air? Maybe now in summer it bothers you but in your winter weather.... Oh boy! I want all the warmth on earth for me!!!

I've done the same to both my gp panels on the RB. infact the holes are a little bigger.
I have found that with the RH panel cut like this, water hose mount for the carb and a diablo tank, I'm able to fit (with a little fettle to the elbow) an elbow with a Ramair filter to my 35mm Mikuni.

Try Chasspeed

Don't know if he can make then to fit the grilles?

Worth a try though
I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.
