Running a standard tv175 with the original MB21 BS5 carb.
The question I have is,
Could I fit a BGM V4 exhaust and a SH1/20 carburettor onto this engine with positive effect? Would the engine be underpowered for this set up?
Exhaust set up
I've put a clubman on standard TV175 engine and it was worse all round, rather than using standard exhaust. Read the Scootering article, basically if any engine isn't doing more than 5/6k revs use a standard exhaust.

Cheers Lamaddict. I'm currently using the original set up including exhaust. I just feel the Lambretta is holding back power due to the set up. The top end has recently been rebuilt and new bearings and seals in the case. Now it's all bedded in I feel the scoot can push out more power.

I'd say, see if you can borrow one to try first.
Gut feel tells me it'll give you more top end speed but may make it less enjoyable to ride around town.
£240 is a lot to spend when it may just go on the shelf in the garage after a couple of weeks.
