SIL 200 engine, when pushing the scooter along while in neutral there'sa 'tapping' sound like the gear selector is touching the side of a gear.
When running he sound isn't there and will run in neutral on the stand or idling at the lights with no issues what so ever.
I've noticed this noise on several different SIL engines but never on my Serveta or Innocenti engines.
Is this merely a gearbox shimming issue? and would this account for the scooter jumping out of 4th gear under load?

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, loudly proclaiming: "WOW, WHAT A RIDE"
i think you could be right about the selector catching the gears. Rimini have brought out a new layshaft that is supposed to cure this problem. something to do with the spring/ ball drilling i think.Fruitjuice wrote:SIL 200 engine, when pushing the scooter along while in neutral there'sa 'tapping' sound like the gear selector is touching the side of a gear.

I had a similar noise from mine and turned out the rim was cracked. Only found it 'cos I had a flat.
