Hi, Could any one shed any light why my 1960 italian series 2 150 has a battery tray fitted, I have seen quite a few with no battery tray, were they fitted to 150,s only or something else ?

battery trays were fitted to scooters imported into countries that had to have parking lights by law (such as GB). If parking lights were not mandatory in countries then no battery tray was fitted.

interesting! Possible "Grey Import" at the time? Private import? Mix up at the factory? Never know now with the passage of time.DigDug wrote:That's the general rule however, as always there are exceptions. My Series II is an original UK registered bike (April 1960) and was A/C.

I also have an SII frame, with a battery tray that has an Italian dealer sticker on the rear of the loop.bristolmod wrote:interesting! Possible "Grey Import" at the time? Private import? Now you mention it, my Series two still had an Italian number plate on it when I got it and I had to cut the tray off to fit a cylinder kit.LI150 wrote:My series 2 came from Italy and had the battery tray cut off
