For any of you that fancy having a go at painting your own scooter, or wondered how it's done, then could I make a recommendation.
After 30 years of dabbling in painting and airbrushing, i painted Holty's 350LC Lambretta over the summer. It got me fired up to get back into it, so for the first time in my life I booked onto a painting course ( painting helmets ), I learned so much that while I was there, that I booked another course ( airbrushing portraits ) which finished yesterday.
The guy I went to was Simon Murray, over in Ballymena N.I. I have no connection or association with Simon, other than knowing of him as a legend in the custom paint world. I have just booked for two more courses in the new year. He teaches everything from beginners through to high end technical courses that are attended by some of the worlds top custom painters.
For less than the price of a half decent paint job, you can do the custom painting course with Simon, and get all the (water based ) paint you will need to complete the job yourself.

Sorry, I didn't realise you meant one of Simon's courses.
I don't know where in Manchester he was doing the courses from, and there is nothing in the online diary.
Simons place in Ballymena is purpose built for teaching, so if you can get there it is well worth the effort. If you are considering a course I would whole heartedly recommend Simon, the amount of knowledge he imparts in one of his courses is incredible.

My lad fancied a go at painting, so he has been over to Simon this week to do the three day custom painting for beginners.
He has never held an airbrush in his life before. Really great results for his first time:

The skulls were literally the first thing he has ever airbrushed, and was done in the first few hours.

Aged Timber

3D rendering of granite with water drop.
Now just need to find him a scooter to paint !
