SIP speedo....latest version..

Are they ok and problem free, any differences from the first batch? My 4 or 5 year old ones speedo has stopped working so will get a new one...

I got one earlier this year, all fine with it.

My only problem is i use the sensor and magnet for the speedo, sensor fixed to forks and magnet on wheel but they get out of alignment when i brake or on rough roads and the speedo fluctuates and mileage is innacurate. Ineed to fashion a mounting bracket on the fork link somehow so the sensor moves with the wheel. That said the unit itself is fine.

I have the SIP 2.0 in my rusty scoot, it runs a cable and has been no trouble for a year now.
I also run it with the low level warning fuel tap, I like that as well.
I have also fitted 2 speedo's for mates as well, but haven't tried with a wire fed speedo.

Yes you can still use a cable but, if your drive is a typical s**t lambretta drive (mine is) then the result is the same as a trad speedo. The pick up system is really accurate but you (we) need a mounting solution to the problem i outlined above.

Not a clear pic but this type of bracket with a tube welded to it and a grub screw to hold the sensor. This one is the old MB speedo with the magnet glued to the hub.

I have my sensor bolted on the disk caliper and a magnet on the disk, works great (if you have an outboard disk that is).

No probs with the speedo, although is cuts out under about 1200 rpm running without a battery.

I've got a mark 1 Lambretta version as well as mark 2 Lambretta and Vespa speedos.

All work fine via the active sensor pickup (no magnet needed btw).

However, all three speedos forget the time after a few days without use. All scooters have batteries (although there is no permanent live connection on the speedo in any case). It's not a big deal, just means that if you want to know the time, you have to go through the setup procedure each time. But it seems to be a strange thing for them not to have addressed on the mark 2 version. And it's only the clock that needs resetting each time, all the other settings remain stored.
