Just built a gt186 engine and I can't get it to start.
I have a spark and I'm using a 30mm dellorto. It appears if I don't have fuel getting through.
I have fuel getting into the fuel bowl but the plug is dry.
Checked jets aren't blocked all seems good
I looked at the piston to make sure that was right way with the 2 windows facing the inlet side and it is
Have poured fuel in the manifold and it fires
I'm at a loss help

Stripping and cleaning carb' would be the first port of call but I've just had a similar problem and it was dodgy fuel in the tank. Somehow water had got in and it just wouldn't fire except when fuel (from a separate supply) was poured through carb mouth.

Have you checked the fuel tap for blockage in the filter inside the tank ?
also checked the fuel flow ? Fast flow tap ? G.

Yep checked all that.
Just had a thought I'm using the gt head which allows usuage of a normal or centre plug positions.
I can't remember if I checked the plug stop thing was tight in. I presume if this is allowing air in there won't be enough suction through the carb ?????

close the carb with your flat hand and kick a few times. might help in some situations with dry carbs....

I had trouble starting my TS1 engine when I built it, kicked it over enough to break the kick start
I eventually held my hand over the carb and it fired up straight away....later found that the choke cable had become disconnected at the lever end

Have you checked Stator Readings is it a known good one ?
CDI ? Plug ? Ht Lead, Green wire from ignition out of CDI etc all basic but worth checking even though there is a spark it may be a bad earth

The plug is dry but I can get it to fire pouring in petrol.
I get fuel into the fuel bowl so all good there.
Its a brand new carb and I have checked for blocked jets.
With my hand over the carb it wont fire
Could it be a air leak thus the engine is not sucking fuel from the carb?
All help is well appreciated
