Just got the registration number for my Jet 200 from the DVLA. Happy days! It's M reg and the first three digits are BSS. Would anybody have any idea what area that particular registration would have been allocated too originally?
BS is Birmingham

but.... reallocated DVLA numbers are drawn from a "pool" of numbers- it bears no relation to location.

correction- the relevant part of the "BSS" is the last 2 letters i.e. "SS".
SS originally was East Lothian.
My reallocated reg is "LSL" SL= Clackmannanshire

East Lothian eh? Thanks for that Chris. Seems like an awful lot of re-allocated, or unused numbers come from north of the border.

Don't DVLA issue local age related numbers any more? All three of the scooters I have reregistered were given local numbers

When Chester DVLA was open they'd use unused registration numbers from North Wales (TU for example) for new registrations. These were numbers that were never used at the time as there was no demand. I suspect this was the same in most parts of rural Britain.
