Can I use a very thin smearing of Copper RTV gasket stuff as a sealant on my TS1 top end? I know it's used for exhausts but am I safe to use on cyclinder head? Thanks

My latest go-to on cylinder heads is high-temp loctite or equivalent thread lock. I know Broadhurst touts the benefits of loctite on heads and head gaskets and I was initially skeptical but nowadays I'm pretty sold.

I used the copper RTV on it in the end, only a very, very thin smear on each side of the gasket and it appears to have done the job. As soon as I sealed all of the joints on the exhaust and the top end I realised just how bad the engine was for air leaks as the difference in performance/sound even vibration, was really significant. Lesson learned - leak down test, every time!
Just had her set up properly on a dyno on Wednesday and it is a different bike all together. I thought it was running ok before (had nothing to compare it to it being my first Lambretta) but once they had set it up I can now see how rough it was running. Best 60 quid I've spent on it, that included them setting the timing and the dyno
runs like a proper TS1 now and certainly has the grin factor, she's a flier
