I seem to have a problem with the brakes on my sx 150 . Is it possible for the drums to become elliptical ? I,ve had this braking sensation on the front for a year or so and now I,ve got it on the back. Its like the shoes biting unevenly if you know what I mean
Is it likely to be a shoe problem or a mis-shaped hub

yes- generally caused by the application of the brakes whilst the vehicle is stationary ( e.g. to hold the rear hub to facilitate the removal of the securing nut for example)
Scootering since 1968.
Is that a 'yes' to the hub mis-shapen or shoes buggered ?

It could be the things previously mentioned. But, I once had the problem in a front brake and it turned out to be no more than dust build-up.

Do you brake hard or softly. If always softly sometimes the shoes get glazed over time. As much as you dare without falling off
do a few really hard braking stops and see if that clears it up.
But as has been said it could be nothing more than dust. If you don't usually go fast , a few high speed runs may also not clean out the dust as such but clear it from where it is.

Recently had to change my rear pads as they had glazed. I only ever really use the rear just to put the break light on mainly using the front to actually stop, maybe I should use the rear a bit more often to actually stoponthelam wrote:Do you brake hard or softly.
