What's your engine casing?
Some SIL ones are thought to be machined incorrectly where the pins are and can be hard to set up. That's why Jockey's brought out their kit.

Rayspeed sort your shoes out for about £20. they take your hub off, put on a skimming tool and whip the excess off the shoes to level them up. My mate had it done and it was money well spent.

I 6sed an old hub with very corse emery super glued inside were the shoes would touch refited then span until the shoes just touched then as the shoe wears down use the cable adjuster a few turns , you might have to take the hub of to remove the dust and check theat both shoes have been filled away mine now locks up at almost any speed
indian casing the mekado (or a name similar to that are reported to be good there indian and cheap )

re the dust- be very careful. Some shoes are still full of asbestos.

Are these different to Makino ones which are Indian, but pretty good imo?

There is a reason mechanics are called mechanics, and fitters are called fitters.
