Which donor bike?

If one had a free choice which is the best base scooter for a urban/touring scooter restoration. I know they can more or less all be restored to whatever but some might have better gearbox and or ratios, better ignition systems etc.
I ask because I am starting to look and while I am sure it will end up being completely random, it pays be informed.

or just get a yamaha tmax 500 and save yourself the hassle of spending thousands going 80-90mph :lol:

Probably one of the mk1 or mk2 P200's.......untouched by a mechanic and a straight top end. They weren't called the "Scooterboy's Workhorse" for nothing.

There are T-Maxs here but a bit large for Bangkok traffic. Just off to a Lambretta shop that I may have found.
