All this talk of EGT and CHT gauges has got me thinking that I could do with one.

Apologies if this has been done to death but what types are recomended, who sells them and how easy are they to fit?

What do you use to power it? Presumably it needs 12V DC

Are the clamp type sensors accurate enough? Do the screw in type need to have the boss welded in or is it self tapping?
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....

The boss does need to be welded to the pipe, but you can also get clamp on senders.

The clamp on thermocouple for the EGT works well and is recommended over the weld & tap boss. That area is prone to impact from stones, debris and speed bumps. If broken, a clamp is easier to replace than the boss.

The CHT thermocouple is a simple ring around the base of the spark plug.
