Piston circlips

I have a 62.2 'Asso Werke' 3 ring piston for my TV175 that i have misplaced the circlips for

,should they be the flat 'Seeger' type,or the 'wire' type??,ive tried looking (even with a magnifying glass) at the profile of the slots,but still cant make out which it should be!,anyone in the definite know??

Try pushing a bit of Blutac ot Plasticene into the groove and look at the resulting shape of the groove. Don't insert the wrong type of clip into the groove, as the result will be expensive (I am sure you know this, but I repeat it here for others)

Ive a smashed up three ring asso piston on my desk that i use as a paper weight and it used the wire circlips, its 66.6 if that matters

Now why didnt i think of that??,(im sure ill think of a reason later on)
Many moons ago,i did replace the wrong type of circlips in a piston!!!,the result??????..........................A loud 'bang',and coming to a grinding halt 3 miles from the Lymington ferry!!,no scooter on the Isle of Wight that year for me

All sorted,'wire type' circlips fitted.
