bgm stator conversion

has anyone converted a standard BGM stator to DC i`ve converted a SIL one with no problem , but looking at the BGM the coils are wired slightly different and i cant work which one to disconnect and add the new wire to ..................hope that makes sense
any help most gratefully received :ugeek:
never squat down when wearing spurs !!

Just disconnect the one that grounds to the stator frame and tie in the new wire. They are wired exactly the same. 4 coils in series from ground to output.

The ground point might be tough to find since the BGM stator is not as loosely thrown together as a SIL one is.

I did it to an early BGM a few years ago and totally agree with Grumpy. Just a matter of looking for where the first coil to the left of the pickup is connected to the laminated core of the stator via a small earth tag. It might be connected with other wires and if so will need to be separated.

disconnect the earth tag, that`s what i was having trouble with finding with a SIL stator the earth is situated under the last coil but the BGM which one
never squat down when wearing spurs !!

On that one I'd say you need to see if there's continuity between the yellow which appears to come out of the coil at the 8 o'clock position and what looks like an earth tag at the four o'clock position.

ok thanks all for your input , it was the tag at eight o`clock , put the multi-meter on and it tests out ok
never squat down when wearing spurs !!
