Trail tech TTO temp gauge

I have one of there mini tto temp gauges and have had to remove the first push connector to thread the wire through
The headset. Question i have is the best way to reconect the wire? The connector seems to be asealed unit so both that and the male will have to be chucked.
Normaly id just splice both ends together with a bit of tape, but on closer inspection there doesnt seem to be mucjh wire, theres some sort of fibre next to it which has sort of stumped me..
Wht wire there is is very fine so it will be super fiddly to spliice them..... Any suggestions welcome.
