Hi all,

Scoot was running perfectly when I first had her about 6 weeks ago. Generally seems to have gone off tune at lower revs. At 3/4 or full throttle is still smooth but anything below that shes spluttering and coughing and won't pull away very well in first. A bit of a pig in traffic when two up I can tell ya!

225 Rapido with 30mm Dellorto and JL3 pipe. Running on 3% oil mix.

I'm thinking she may be running a bit rich? Have done one plug chop with an NGK8ES and was a bit wet. Just changed to a Denso but haven't had chance to do a chop yet.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

Good point. I'll have to check what's fitted.

Cheers!

Personaly I'd be suprised if it is an ignition fault, you'd expect it to get worse at higher revers, not better.

I would look at your choke and make surem that the plunger nis fully sealing when it is turned off. Have a look down the little hole on the carb inlet. there should be a litle bit of slack in the cable as well.

Could be that too as getting through a shed load of fuel and she seems a bit smokier than normal too. Another avenue to explore. Cheers

If it was fitted from new 6 weeks ago you may need to re-toque the head bolts.
Best Regards

Change in temperature?

As the weather gets hotter the engine runs richer.

Cheers all...keep suggestions coming as hope to take a good look tomorrow.

Whilst I think of it I need to sort a new clutch out....4 plate with stronger springs or 5 plate?

Took the panel off and the inside is caked in sh1te...more than normal.

The choke plunger appears to be sitting where it should. Checked the fuel filter and about an eigth of it caked in crap...all cleaned and now she at least ticks over better. Haven't had chance to take her out for a run yet but does anyone reckon that the dirty filter would have caused the poor running as described? (I know it wouldn't have helped).

Does anyone else get the inside of their panels badly caked at all?

Cheers!
