Ok,has anybody else had problems fitting a larger fuel tank into their Lambretta?
Helping a mate out with his series 1 custom job,and we are on the third tank,which doesnt fit.
A bit of hole elongating here,and a bit of battery tray removal there we can handle,but these bast**d things still wont fit,and when eventually we got one virtually where it should be,we find we cant get the toolbox in,or it wont go in with the toolbox fitted



Pictured here are two of the tanks we have tried,the other one has dissapeared after having unspeakable things done to it
Believe me,this has been a nightmare,ive even invented seven new swear words

Not on a series 3 - piece of cake. but my mate had a nightmare trying to fit one to his kitted S1.

Yep, trying to fit a similar one in the first pic to my series 2. It goes in ok but either way I can't get the toolbox in even without rubbers.

I have fitted a simmilar looking Tank like your #1 (SSC 12,5 l) to my SX150.
It was a little bit tricky, but it fitted in nearly perfect
(with the toolbox in place - i don´t think you can put in the toolbox after the tank).

PS: Check if the tank is leakproof (mine drips at the bottom)

they rae indeed a right pain..

agree with the above, fit the toolbox first.

also fit and test the fuel tap as well as you don't want to keep getting it in/out.
put the tank in and wiggle the rubbers in afterwards.
you may have to do some adjustment of the rubbers either by cutting or sticking bits on, or trying different harder, softer, older, newer, indian, Italian rubbers (ok if you have plentiful spares/junk box)
doing the straps is pain also, I managed to get a small quarter inch drive socket on, but you only have enough access to get a few clicks at a time which means it takes forever. I think I got it so the adjusters are at the top of the tank facing forwards for best access..

I fitted one to a series two and it was bloody tight but i got it in eventually.

ye fit tool box first then if your using new straps you need to tighten them with no rubbers so they go to the shape of the tank, then loosen the straps enough to get one rubber in then tighten again, then loosen to get another rubber in and loosen again and so on until all the rubbers are in, then loosen the straps again to position the tank and straps correctly then tighten up. if your using the type that bolt in dont fit the bottom bolt that fits on the airbox bolt hole because it will split the tank.
