Hi couple of quick questions. Firstly running in. What does everyone do. Just rebuilding my Imola with new kit, new crank bearings etc etc. Ive been told everything from taking it slowly slowly for 500 miles to thrashing it straight away. Ive always done a bit in between but am curious to what everyone does. Im putting my Augusto 7000 back on but ive lost the bloody instructions. Is it set to around 24 degrees before TDC and it will retard back as the revs increase.
Cheers everyone.

Running in is next to nothing on nicasil bores/kits, however, that only applies on factory produced engines that have had thousands of hours of R&D to ensure that carburation, timing, compression are appropriate for use with the standard exhaust, etc. Once you start playing with bitsa engines/kits that have not had the R&D then you need to spend the first few hundred miles making sure that the engine is suitably set up... and I don't mean just a few brief scribblings from the dealer that you bought it from.
In your shoes I'd be putting 100 miles on the bore and rings before I considered the bore appropriately bedded in, then spend the next 300 (minimum) making sure that the setup is correct.
Best of luck with it.
