sorry to ask, especially as the engine isnt a scooter one, but I have a 28phbh carb on my engine and Im a little confused

it normally runs with an airbox in the original bike, but Im running a ramair filter, just to be awkward and because an airbox wouldnt fit :)

I can get a lovely smooth idle, BUT only if the adjuster is fully wound in, and I adjust the cable to take it up a bit, it should be possible to get it idling with no cable.

I think??? that I need to adjust the pilot jet, but what way to go with it, I assume smaller, as Im having to open the slide to let more air in to counteract a rich pilot?

would this over rich pilot also cause revs to hang a bit and be slow to settle down

thanks in advance, the bike forums want to know what model you have, and as I havent a clue what it is, they are a bit funny, usually just saying, put the airbox back on, you lot are far more learned and open minded in my experience

You would need a larger idle jet, by swapping your air box and I should imagine stock air filter inside the air box for a ram air filter you are getting more air to the carb. More air needs more fuel. And if you open the throttle fast you should notice a slight hesitation before it revs thats a sign of a week mixture, either adjust your air mixture screw or your idle jet. You might want to check for an air leek some where as that might be an issue with the bike taken a while to settle down after revving it.
