There is only one answer to your question, you need to get the carb set up by someone who knows what they are doing and or on a dyno.

a dyno session is deffo in order here to check things out ,as fairspares recomends .
but its quite normal for a certain amount of spit back to occur at low revs on a tuned (piston ported )motor...has the inlet timing been extended /piston skirt cut ?
how does it perform and run generally ?

thanks for the replies i did tell him to get it set up on a dyno but i'm afraid he is running a very tight budget, its very boggy when setting off only clears when the main jet kicks in.

can you give us a bit more info , if its not had any tuning work and is a rapido classic it could be a case that the 34mm carb is to big.

Id go along with the above ian. Aint no need for a 34 carb on even a half decent tuned rapido bud. No wonder the guys skint ...lol. get him over to petes mate. .wat size do u av on ur hb ts1? Itt smaller than that isn't it? An id guess urs higher state ov tune. Psl visit for him.

What no.slide being used,i found 4 works best. Also is the needle new or an old one? New needle will make a difference. These carbs should be easy to setup and you only have one size needle to play with.
