Can I ditch the fuel drinker
At the moment I've got a 30mm dellorto carb that was fitted by previous owner it's running along side 186 imola , taffy replica pipe , pacemaker box , bgm 120 stator , lightened fly wheel . It runs a open mouth carb and I've noticed the amount of fuel spit / wastage I'm wondering if the carb is just too big and if so what size to chop it in for .

If I'm not mistaken the Imola was designed to run with a 30mm Dellorto carb, so I'd say it's ok to use with your set up. What are the condition of the reeds like and Is it jetted properly? Damaged reeds would cause some spit back.
Was set up by chisel speed with dyno by previous owner . They rebuilt it
God know's i'm no expert, but I thought spit back was all down to port timings/openings, if so a change of carb won't cure the problem. Perhaps a reed valve might do the trick and save on petrol too

Imola kits do have reedvalves.
Slow is the new fast!
Told you I wasn't an expert

could be reeds or overjetted as previously mentioned, could you run a filter?have you the clearance...i run a foam filter sticking out of the panel on my ts1 and a breathe sweet behind the panel on my reed mugello which keeps everything clean
Breath easy no as bought one and the panel won't got on next step is I'm gonna try a custom made panel grill by chas speed fabs . It's only just been dynod by chisel speed but gonna need doing again once I get new exhaust back from chromers
