Hi all,

Cant get my Jl3 pipe and flywheel cowl to fit without them being hard up against eachother,so much so it causes the cowling to rub against the flywheel fins! Standard indian flywheel with the deeper type cowling!

Anybody else had this problem? Any known fixes?

Cheers

What sort of cylinder have you got? My JL3 has been fitted to some SR225 style barrels and is currently on an Avanti, also with a long fin flywheel and cowl and no clearance problems at all :?

I have just fitted an avanti kit!
Had a mugello on before that which was also very tight and actually rubbed a hole through the cowling, but wasn't as bad as it is now!
I've tried a couple of different cowlings and am thinking maybe its the exhaust poorly made?

Just wanna get out on it now :x I suppose heating the exhaust and putting a small ding in it so that it clears wouldn't be such a good idea?

Have you tried slacking off the stub nuts? Have you tried the stub on the other way?

Is there any risk/drawbacks to having the flywheel fins machined down and using the shallower flywheel cowling?

None at all, most of the indian short fin ones start out like that.
