hi all,here's the story,rapido 250,tmx35,taffspeed exhaust,sil stator,green wire on cdi disconnected.
bike has been stood since isle of wight last year, drained old petrol through carb float bowl, filled with fresh and she started fourth kick, took for mot last week, seemed all ok.
anyway on the knaresborough to york ysa ride out,it has developed a misfire,it will rev out cleanly in 2nd,but 3rd and 4th wont rev out, misfiring higher up inthe rev range, and worse on a hill, going to strip carb and clean first of all,but i am think stator problem, low tension coil.
but why will it rev out in 2nd and not 3rd and fourth, cheers all.

forget carb for now, 1st change plug ,check for loose wire connections into the coil , then plug lead, if long enough try cutting a small piece off each end first before changing complete lead, then try another coil , then stator / timing, more than likely its the plug.

if it just wouldnt rev out then could have been carb but as it misfired more than likely electrical.

possibly blocked fuel filter following draining full tank of 1 yr old fuel may have left all deposits around filter and causing fuel starvation at higher rpm/prolonged use and under load

After much digging missfire/high rpm stutter was due to loose rivets between coil plate and back-plate on a BGM stator....

What flywheel u running?

Check timing with a strobe, some times you can visually see the timing marks shoot all over the place if there is a problem.
