Hi just been for a look at a T5 that's for sale. The plastic cap didn't sit all the way on the hub and the wheel has been rubbing on the clutch housing
there is also a lot of oil on the chassis below the barrell where the brake/ clutch cable enters the frame. Any ideas whats wrong with it.
Tyre rub could have been from a flat tyre, a too wide tyre, or a loose hub . Plastic cap could be wrong cap, or hub split pin interfering .
Oil could be residue from blowing out of the clutch breather, or spit from an exhaust manifold leak , or 2 stroke from an autolube tank leak ,etc . Not necessarily anything major ,depending on how much you know about them and your ability to fix them of course.
Agree. Get down and give the rear wheel a wiggle, sounds like the hub nut is slightly loose. Ask the seller to remove the plastic cap, split pin, nut cover and tighten the nut. Raise the rear wheel and give it a good spin, or go for a test run and then check the rear wheel for movement again, there should always be a little play. But if it is loose, then its a damaged hub nut, £2 fix. As for oil on the rear and clutch cables, thats normal. The vespa engine gets absolutely boggin in about 10mins, just the nature of the beast. But as before nothing to worry about.
