how to check over a frame?

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

any tips for checking a frames straightness, etc, ?

just curious as i disassemble my dry built gp, before getting it sprayed?

I think it was Ricspeed posted a dimensioned set of factory frame drawings some time ago. You should be able to work it out from there.
I think Wintermodel on here has his own jig.

i do have those pics yes but i dont think there's enough info on them to be of real use but i will post again no probs ,

as dapper said i'm sure in stickies book it does give basic measurements between loop and headstock ..much more than that you rely on sighting the frame a various angles .. if still not convinced its a jig mate

you say its dry built .. if you can take it on a test ride that will help .. if it feels right it will be .. a bent frame will tend to twitch or feel like it wants to drop when cornering in one particular direction

the critical areas are headstock and engine mount ... look for visible stress points on the frame particularly at the bend forward of the front struts and around engine mount .. good idea is to weld on a servta style gusset also especially if you are fitting a hot motor ...

did you have any issues fitting panel work ??

you have neglected to include your area/town/city in your profile ........... there maybe someone close to you as there are 5/6 people with frame jigs and one about 15 miles from me
