One of the main problems with the throttle is the shaft rubs on the light switch wiring so the easiest is to check the wiring sheath is flat and sometimes a dab of grease will help. The throttle tube also needs to be free on the headset stub and the nylon bushes not too tight on the shaft. If it turns out to be the shaft rubbing on the wiring the shaft can be relieved in this area either in a lathe or with a grinder until it spins free.Obviously the cable needs to be in good condition. Another thing that makes the throttle grip bind is the anti rattle shim that fits up against the switch housing and throttle tube, removing this or a shim from the bridge leads to slight side play but stops the binding. ;)

two schools of thought about this:-

some say the throttle SHOULD snap back; some say it SHOULDN'T (turning right with a hand signal for instance).

You would need to have a word with a qualified MOT tester for the definitive answer (lambro?)

Late model Lynx models had a spring mechanism deliberately designed to spring the throttle closed. But, Lynxes had indicators. If you read Lammy manuals from the mid sixties, ie before indicators, you'll see they refer to the need for the throttle to bind deliberately. As Chris, says this is so the throttle doesn't completely close whilst you're indicating to turn right.

I put a small dinner plate spring (the ones used when people display plates on their wall - b and q) inside the headset to help the throttle wheel return.
Scoot passed this part of mot....but failed on rear brake!! lol
