I need to drill out the rivets, but as i am bound to get it wrong if i guess, which end does it come apart from?

You only need to remove the end cap, use the blanket typ material and wind it round a piece of pipe (I used some plastic waste pipe) the same dia as the ceter pipe and slip the roll onto the center pipe and inside the can. Stuff it in as tight as you can and rivet the end cap back on. The rivets I drilled out were only ally so that's what I used to replace them. Whole jobe took 30 mins start to finish.
