ive had problems with 2 different kinds of FF tap for vespas, one a beedspeed one (blue anodised) wouldnt turn off. the other a SIP, again, would still flow fuel , albeit a slight amout , when shut off. try the float needle for wear, the extra flow of fuel may be overpowering a worn rubber tipped needle, and causing flooding symptoms.

I had this when running in a 166 did 1000 miles . No one knew why it kept dying as again it was when shutting off throttle . Would happen at 15mph as well as 50 MPH

We fitted a sip FF tap and it cured it for a short time before before the main engine seal went and engine went .

Interesting thread as could this be anything else other than the tap??

Even if the tap isn't shutting off 100% the float needle shouldn't be letting any more in once the bowl is full............. I'd be checking the float and needle before knocking the tap.
