I have a dellorto phf 32, googled it and it comes on 4 stroke engines (i think). Would it work on a 2 stroke tuned vespa engine? Does anyone have first hand experience on this matter? Thnx

don't know if this will help, but you can get a bush to convert a 4 stroke PHBH to 2 stroke http://lambretta.co.uk/catalog/product_ ... ts_id=3486 maybe the same exists for PHF32? or that one may even fit,I don't know.Could be worth contacting eurocarb http://www.dellorto.com/default.asp but I'm sure I've read somewhere of people using 4 stroke carbs on a 2 stroke, I think Knowledge(Martin) wrote somewhere about aprillia being 2 stroke engines but with 4 stroke carbs.Don't know if any of my ramblings have helped or not.............. I'll get me coat
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Hi

It could work with 2 strokes if you take the accelerator pump off.

Best regards

I've converted a few 4 stroke carbs to 2 stroke, but if the carb has an accelarator pump, then it sounds like really hard graft to convert it to 2 stroke.

I would put it on ebay and buy something more appropriate.

How did you convert them? So it can't work even with accel. pump on 2stroke?

Conversion involves pushing out the brass insert that holds the atomiser, and replace it with new brass bush that has a collar which weakens the fuelling at low revs. The bush costs less than a tenner, and it is easy to fit, but my concern is that the original 4-stroke carb might be worth more than a you could buy a second hand two stroke carb.

It seems a risk to try and convert the 4 stroke, fail, and be left with nothing.

With a good description on ebay, it might go well with so many single cylinder 4-stroke trails bikes around these days.....
