I have just built a Malossi 166 engine, it has a new 24si carb which is a copy of the Dellorto
The jets in it are not numbered do don't really know any settings
At the moment it's really boggy, setting off and running, but if I run it with the choke out its almost there, what does that mean, too rich or weak
What sort of jet size's would we be looking at
Thanks

I'm surprised the jets aren't numbered and that you need the choke for it to run if the jet stack is originally for a p2.
You will have two brass jets in the carb. The one on the left is the pilot and the one on the right has the main jet, mixer tube and air corrector. These are under the air filter.
A lot depends on the exhaust and whether the cases have been ported but a safe setting would be:
Air corrector(the top part) 140 (don't worry too much if its a 160)
Mixer tube Be4 (BE3 will be richer than this but it will be overrich)
Main Jet 120-122
You may have other issues causing the lean runing such as an air leak so make sure this is not the case.

had a new 24 dellorto copy (SI) and that had no markings on the jets. swapped the jets for genuine , and it was fine. the originals were a mile out.
