People are probably getting sick of me asking inane questions. But lack of real world knowledge and wanting to get to where I want to be first time or with only minor tweaking.
I want a fast-ish touring set up, that will cruise at around 65 and only a long enough stretch of road hit 80+ (guestimate speeds). I don't mind a revy bike as I am used to a T5.
So which would you go for:
Standard jet200 barrel, bored out to 225 using an avanti piston, nk rally pipe, 30mm carb, sx200 gearbox and the ports reworked to reflect this setup.
Or a rapido classic 225 kit, ports reworked and matched to carb and exhaust, with the same exhaust carb as above.
I thought I was sure, but the more I read and more options I read the more confused I am :S so just after some real world advice...
Cheers,
:fb:

65-80mph....TS1
Is your Serveta still running a standard Li type crank and electronics?....as these and your clutch may need to be upgraded if your planning on pushing up the bhp
Hope you have plenty of money young blood, big engines cost big bucks and its an ongoing expence.
Stick with a well sorted stage 4 and have money left over for ya beer and women
Ride safe

Just buy a cheap aftermarket speedo... easiest way to think that you are touching 80 and cruising at 65!
PS - I agree with above.

I would of thought if a T5 can do mid 60s and top out with my head down and the wind behind me could do 70 ish. A 225 lammy, with a race exhaust, big carb pushing out high teens horse power. It could hit 80ish on a good day?
I would be upgrading to a GP crank and going to electronic ignition. I would of thought good quality clutch plates and strong springs would be good enough for these set ups.

Iron barrel tuned by Ron Moss, 30mm carb, Avanti Clubman exhaust, 65mph all day long with enough power to hit 80+ when required.......... sorted
Make sure you use a decent crank, good quality bearings and take your time with jetting (every engine is different and WILL require fine tuning).
Enjoy......

Also, didn't a stage four tuned sx hit 80 at either elvington or the scooter shootout?

Your poor scooter is all I can say. I can't help thinking you've come into this with your expectations a little high. Forget about all the fancy stuff and concentrate on something that is relatively straight forward.

I know a lot less than most on here when it comes to the workings of a scooter but if you want to sit at a true 65 and up to 80 when you want to enjoy yourself your going to have to have deep pockets or be happy to keep getting your iron barrel fixed when it lets go which it will if you do either of the above on a regular basis. Obviosly if you get the set up just right then you may be alright but for my money for that sort of performace your going to need a tuned Ts or the new ron moss kit which pretty much descibes what your after in its advertisng blurb...
A mate has put about 500 miles on his new Ron Moss kit with some crappy pipe and is very impressed already. I imagine if you mate it with the Franspeed race you will have exactly what you want.
Someone with more nowse than me will be along shortly im sure...
