A cheap cht gauge
That looks handy, how do you connect the sender to the cylinder head, after holing a piston last weekend I could do with something like that, better than an EGT guage?

that's funny. Westach is less than 50 miles from here in San Francisco and you guys get them much cheaper there in the UK. I love my EGT though and Westach has great customer support. I've had them take the gauge apart and loctite all the potentially wiggly bits. Top guys there.

i've just fixed mine after popping a piston so liek the idea of this but the website is not very informative.
as already stated i'd like to know how it connects. also and excuse my ignorance but i presume it requires a power source and if so does it matter whetehr AC or DC and how much wattage is required please?

I ran the cable from the head along the runners, up into and out of the glove box, a great piece of kit, not blown anything up since I installed it

both instruments the egt - cht are useful
the afr is by far ~ the best gauge if any ~ to have
1st ~ you have to learn how to read them ~ they wont stop a seize ~ only show something is not right
that"s if you already know the difference sounds an engine makes from ~ running right ~ to going pop
an egt ~ depending on the type of thermocouple is very fast at showing up heat changes :flaming:
the cht is not as fast @ showing heat build up and you could seize without noticing the gauge
the afr shows up at all speeds in every gear how the mixture is burning ~ you wont seize up with a rich mixture ~ only a weak one
most of the analogue instruments are not designed for the severe vibration a lambretta pulses out .... so dont last long ~ or the needle swings :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:
digital is the way to go ~ with the added safety of alarm contacts ~ which can be connected to a horn - light or if you have lottsa money the solenoid power-jet
these instruments tell you how the combustion is doing ~ not if you have a ring peg ready to pop out

Couldn't be simpler to fix on mate. A sender ring sits at base of spark plug and from this comes a braided cable comes off it and two wires come of this onto the gauge. No battery needed no ac or dc needed just heat.

Hi I have a cylinder head temp gauge fitted to my vapour trail tech computer.... I have the option of having a warning light coming on when the temp reaches a certain set number... What would forum members suggest I should set it to for a maximum temp (degrees centigrade) thanks
