just depends what you are spraying. I use gravity for base and clear and a pot gun for primer.

If your spraying in your garage anything will do really. remember to get loads of practice in, use water to spray against the wall so you can get used to triggering off, correct distance and just the general feel of the gun.
Spend most of your time prepping it, if you get the prep wrong everything else after will be wrong no matter what you do.

I've done complete resprays on minis but only in cellulose.

If I was going to spray anything in future I would get invest in the proper equipment and use two pack paint -or pay someone else to do it.

I agree that the prep work is important. Just my two pence worth.

Cheers.

Either type would be ok for a scooter, but suction fed guns have varying air demand requirements and depending on the power of your comperessor may not work properly. Compressors are usually rated in CFM (cubic feet per minute) but accessories are often stated as requiring a FAD (free air delivery) requirement. The FAD is also expressed in CFM but will always be around 10 - 20% less. In short, if you compressor says 6 CFM and the spray gun needs 6 CFM (FAD) then it won't suck the paint up properly.

I recently sprayed a scooter using an Earlex HVLP (high volume low pressure) set up (£60 all in from B&Q) and was very pleased with the results.

I agree with the comments above about preparation, it's worth putting in the hours to get the primered finish perfect.

If your going to spray in the garage the most important thing is to clean the garage as much as you can, it´s pointless to buy a good gun lay down perfect paint then come the day after to find a ton of dust has settled in to the paint. Also if you paint in summer mosquitos can be real b@5t@rds.

Steve

I have a Devilbiss starting line gun, it was quite cheap and works well.
