Well a few years back i had a TS1 engine built and was told it had a standard GP200 gear box in it. Never having anything go wrong i've never had the side casing off. Last week the clutch burnt out so i decided i'd put a 5 plate clutch in while i was at it. So ordered a 47 tooth 5 plate clutch kit from Camlam ( yes i should have checked 1st ) So i take the side casing off and strip clutch out to find a 46 tooth crown wheel and a 16 tooth front sprocket + a 80 link chain. Not taken the gear box out yet but the top loose gear has 50 teeth( stickys book 16x46 80 link chain on a li/gp 150 box 4.7 to 4.9 ratio ). This may explain why the scoot ran crap with the ScootRS exhaust on but much better with the jl3. The moral of this story is never take anything for granted. I am assuming the gear box is Li 150 or should i just check to be sure :D Yes it is my 1st Lambretta but i never did have all this messing about with all of my Vespas put together :!:

Mate of mine had this on a restored Indian GP200. he fitted a TS1 and 3rd gear cog broke a tooth. It was on stripping motor that he found the 16/46 combination and an Indian Gp150 gearbox which he has since changed for an Li150 box. You might like to check the gearbox as well.

i always check these "sil" engines as ive worked on 2 that had super vijay mk 2 boxes in them and wouldnt pull 4th very well, these came from private sellers on ebay i doubt if the sellers even new these were not genuine SIL engines unless SIL did fit these boxes into some engines :? ,but i would say the quality of other bits in the engine leads me to doubt that

This engine has run well on the Fesco exhaust , then ran p155 poor when i put on the Sterling and has ran the best on the JL3 i have now. To be honest i wouldn't have known any differance if i hadn't had bought the 47 tooth crown wheel for the box i thought i had in it.

i doubt if the 3mm squish helped either  it was part of a stripdown and check i did for these 2 engines one needed another head as i still could get the squish under 2mm
