Pickups - should you have to file them to fit?

 Following on from my SIL GP engine not being able to rev over 3000rpm, I narrowed it down to a stator problem. So I bought a new pickup to try that. Just fitted it, soldered it up and applied araldite as per the one I took off.
When I fitted the flywheel it fouled on the two exposed metal parts on the pickup. Because it comes with a location dowel I (stupidly) assumed it would be a precision fit....

I surely don't have to file or grind it to fit, do I?

Do you reckon it's a rogue part?

Cheers,

Nigel

Came across the same issue a while back - supposedly A GENUINE SIL PART k2 tested pickup ( ohm reading maybe )

Filing to fit - unless both contacts kept the same height - a waste of time - REPLACE

Cheers Shoosh. I've emailed Scooter Restorations and hopefully they'll repace it. However, I think this has tipped me over the edge to get a BGM.
The existing stator will be made to work and I'll keep it as a spare, even if it means unleashing my filing skills on it (I spent long enough learning how to! )
