Help and advice please
Just done a return day trip of 150 plus miles for Run to the Hills and have noted issue with my scoot which has a surflex boned clutch with re enforced springs and carbon plates. Had this set up as the previous new one lasted 17 miles on the way to the national at Cleethorpes before breaking.
The set up is a px 125 with a parma 177 kit matched and ported with a 28 dellorto on a reedvalve using a RH JL.
The only way to describe the problem is that in 3rd and fourth gear it does not pull as feels as if its slipping. Ive had a similar thing in a car which is why im thinking could the clutch be slipping hence not putting the power to the road??
There are no leaks of any type and ive checked the carb wihich appear normal as i thought it may have been flooding but ahve ruled that out.
Full throttle in third full open it only now does 50ish however pre this ride it would go upto 65ish.There is then a wurring sound as you change into 4th but it does not pick up.
Ive doen nearly 600 miles running the engine in which had a full rebuild and all new parts about 6 weeks ago .
Surely it cant have eaten this one all ready??

The carbon type plates will need increased spring pressure to work than cork. The carbon material though is much much more stable and will take the abuse/slippage without burning like the cork. I would try to increase the springs to begin with.

Thanks Tony , its already got uprated and strengthened springs could it be any thing other than the springs??
If not do you know where i can buy top quality springs for the surflex. Dont mind paying top dollar for decent kit

Having rang around most of all the big name dealers from Scootering trying to establish what are the strongest heavy duty springs available. Received many different answers which was confusing.
Plumped for a couple of sets of sip uprated which state run 18-22bhp which should be ok with the carbon fibre plates.
It appears not many people are running carbon fibre pads on tunned px's

I run 'old style' 7 spring, 3 plate clutch on 26hp P Range.
Found Malossi gold springs were better than the silver ones.
Have some carbon plates to try, but have never had problems with Surflex corks.
Is yours still based on 125, 6 spring?
