vespa px125 engine trouble

had the engine in bits as cush went now all back together the kickstart wont engage, its like its slipping. any ideas?

have you over tightend the clutch cable ? slacken it off to check then re adjust .

Cluitch has had brand new plates. Slackend it off re adjusted still no joy

Did you put the clutch woodruff key in? I think this gives similar symptoms if you forget.

woodruff is deffo in, could the layshaft not be in far enough by anychance?

Sounds like the kickstart gear is upside down or the brass plunger has slipped from the clutch cover and is pressing on the the clutch.
Younger brother did the exact same thing recently.
