My MK1 T5 has developed a knocking noise. It is coming from the rear wheel. You can feel/hear it when spinning the wheel. There is no play in the wheel, and it is like a strong tapping noise when you spin the hub back and forth. It rides well, but does any one have any idea what could be causing it?

Cheers,

It might not be, but i had a noise like that and in the end it turned out to be the cush drive plates/ rivets detaching. Both plates were chewed up and sitting in the bottom of the engine casing, woops! :o

Would something like that explain why there was a bit of oil on the bottom of the casing? And would it ride badly?
