Hi
Any help would be appreciated about to remove engine from a LD150 mk3 but read all kinds of stuff about torsion bar removal damaging bearings etc.
What is the best way to remove engine / torsion bar do you need the special tool?
Thanks
David

Not having removed an LD engine before I was expecting bone-breaking torsion bars flinging me around the workshop but they aren`t under that much tension at all.
After a bit of research I discovered this technique on LCGB I think to load the torsion bar enough to remove the pin. It was really easy in the end. Hope these pics help. Used a ratchet strap and a block of wood. Pin came out easily and no busted bearings.

progressing with strip down relatively well - although it has been stood for 45 years.
removed forks and now struggling to remove top race and steering lock / cable guide underneath.
should these just knock out? have tried as much force as i dare without being sure
thanks

Hi,undo the nut that holds the steering lock onto the top handlebar clamp and then pull the lock out.
The top handlebar clamp is a tight fit and will need the bars twisting from side to side to get it off,
Undo the m6 grubscrew that holds the top bearing retainer in ,then put a long drift up from the bottom of the forks and knock out the retainer (it will be tight ).
