lammy problem

up until last week my lammy 175 cutdown ran fine then whilst riding it , it started to backfire and then conked out . it did manage to restart after loads of kicks but ran really rough eventually giving up the ghost and refusing to start . after a check over it looked like an intermitent spark caused by a duff plug so i changed the plug for a new one and eventually started after loads of kicks but when started it was very very smokey although running fine, but after a couple of miles the smoking stopped and it ran spot on until after a few days it started all over again excately the same ,again i changed the plug again it smoked then stopped now i,m scared to take it out incase it breaks down again ( its a cutdown ,has no toolbox or way of carrying tools ), anybody any idea whats up with it ? also the last time it did it i changed the cdi but made no difference ,thanks

pick up or lt coil or both

Id say your either putting too much oil in it or the drive side oil seal is leaking which is burning plugs out. If it were the CDI or stator pick up it would stop and stay stopped

no it doesnt , my tsi was intermittent until it eventually died and it was pick-up

i,m running the scoot at 3-4% its a stage four 175 big carb and exhaust so i don,t think its too much 2 stroke also its a bgm stator with about 2000 miles on it not a cheap indian one so that should be ok and if it was an oil seal wouldn,t it blow smoke all the time ?

If it was the pick up it would more likely to misfire at high revs,changing the plug would not cure it.
Does it happen just after you fill up,do put the oil in first,do you turn the petrol off when you fill up as its a cutdown does it have a sidestand?

Did you buy the plugs at the same time/ same place, ebay?

I'm led to believe there are knock off plugs around.

Hi, always turn the petrol off when turning off , the petrol is mixed in a petrol can at home and shook up before putting in and yes it has a sidestand but this happens when the scoot is running so in an upright position .
