Should just tap out but make sure you use some sort of correct diameter drift so that you tap it out squarely though. Why are you just changing the needle bearing ?

I have previosly changed the large bearing under the circlip but at the mot I was told I still had play when the tester rocked the front wheel so I thought it must be wear in the roller bearing

Hi took your advice and tapped it out no problem (no need for heat) tapped in the new one ressembled and wheel spins as sweet as a nut with no play when rocking the wheel, result. Whizzed up the road as a test and no probs good brakes and a working speedo. ! :)
