cant get over 40mph

hi all im new to this game and i have a little ? im going along on me lambretta hit about 40mph ish and it wont go any further it starts to sputer any answers please

1964 series 3 li125 with a standard gp200 engine 22 jetx carb and a fresco exhaust and em i had my eletrics checked the other day and they were fine

you'll need to give a bit more info

engine size.. any modifications?
carb type
ignition system type (electronic or points?)
exhaust type

etc...

ok are look in to that thanks.... i have heard that jetx carbs are crap is that true ?

When did the problem start..had you changed anything prior to the problem...what top speed did it have before the problem..

no experience of them but have heard it said .....but if it ran ok before with a jetx ...thats not the problem

does it feel like a rev limiter (it seems to stutter at higher revs under load ) if it does its either pick up or lt coil or both

thrash it in 3rd ,,,,it could be your not getting up to speed in each gear so when you change into 4th theres not enough revs and it bogs down if your not very experienced on riding a lambretta let someone who is have a go on it who is ,
