Hi all,

First off thsi question is not about a scooter engine, but I thought it similar enougth that you can probably point an Amal virgin in the right direction....

I run a 210 Villiers (2 stroke, alloy barrel with old style expansion exhaust) in my historic kart, and have had to change this year from a VHSB34 dellorto as slide carbs have been banned... so ive picked up 2x 34m mark 2 Amals which ive never tried using before, to run this season.
One is a powervalve, the other is standard.
Ive been advised to use the standard one as the powervalve will leave me heartbroken when i find it impossible to set up correctly - agree or disagree (remembering that this is a race kart and is driven flat out in all conditions)

secondly, I see a lot of talk about different types of slides, but im yet to fathom what the actual differences are (and how they relate to the running) and no idea how to identify which slides I currently have, although they are alloy and not chrome or brass.

Ill be using the following as a starting point based on info from a friend that runs the same engine and and almost identical exhaust, and will adjust the main up or down to suit (and possibly the needle jet):
Needle jet - 107
Main jet 350

I have no idea where to put the needle to start with (high or low) any advise?

Cheers
