Harry Barlow recommends aligning the timing mark on the P2E casing to the 'I.T.' timing mark on the stator plate when setting up one of his Stage 4 tunes on a P200E motor.
Problem is the stator I have got is an early (genuine Piaggio) Ducati stator plate and it only has a simple mark cast into it which aligns with the timing mark on the casing.
Is it a case of simply moving the early stator plate I have got in a clockwise direction by the distance between the marks off a later stator plate?

this shows you how to do it with the early p200 stator using a gauge and strobe
however i have in the past done as you say by retarding the stator - turning clockwise the distance between the two marks with no issues
