Kegra exhaust

In Jan's edition of Scootering, there is a little advert for a standard looking-ish exhaust from Kegra, diffuser on the front and a reverse cone/VW tail pipe on the back. I would like to know if the baffle is still in place? Phoning them up really isn't an option as I live in Australia and it's expensive.

Kegra retro performance pipe

For those that don’t know, the exhaust pipes currently marketed as ‘KRP’ actually mean Kegra Racing Pipe as they are based on an exhaust which Kegra Racing first designed. While the current exhausts are nothing to do with them, Kegra have utilised their original designs and templates to create this, an expansion pipe for Lambrettas that looks almost standard.

Visiting Kegra Scooter Centre I was able to see the exhaust for myself while Graham explained how it was made. Starting with the expansion pipe sections, the exhaust is assembled to follow the lines of a standard Lambreta type box meaning a few turns are more extreme than usual. Around the expansion is a standard type box with original double skin and silencing, and between the two Kegra have added an amount of fibre wadding to silence it further. Add a VW tail pipe and the result is an 80s style pipe that offers modern day performance, but with an almost standard tone (albeit meatier) that won’t annoy the neighbours if you start work early in the morning!

Not only that but it clears the floor boards too, although Graham found that Lambretta parts varied from one scooter to another so does suggest that customers get a pipe made to measure, so to speak. when I read the description it says its an expansion pipe then around it is a std box ,from this my thought is it's a tuned pipe enclosed in a std box to make it look std while giving the performance of an expansion.just my understanding .
