I recently built a Mugello 186 and drilled the airbox to help air flow also a mate has a casa with a 25mm phbh carb and he did like wise improved it immensly but do relevant plug checks to jet accordingly
As my Dad used to say "Each to their own lad"

...i've run 2x mugello through an undrilled debaffelled air box with 1980's K&N replacement filter.Tuck alot of messing about to jet up. Don't agree with drilling as to me it defeats the object of drawing in cool air. You might as well just bin it.I found that removing the air scoop all together was an improvement.6 years later... now that you can get a decent air filter under the panels {evergreen} i've put 30mm phb's on and WOW! :bouncing:  :P
