had a SIL flywheel lightened.
then had it cnc balance checked and it was found to be 7 grams out
flywheel has now been balanced
i would estimate the amount of metal removed was the equivalent of between a 10 and 50 pence piece

unfortunately i didnt check for balance before lightening as i would have had a good comparison - will do next time

worth thinking about if anyone getting a flywheel lightened on a lathe as balancing will dramatically reduce vibration

I have no idea what the balancing machine would look like. Can you give me some clues?

Ideally one would balance the flywheel, crank and front sprocket assembly all in one at the same time.. That's my top tip..

on the old lactating forum a guy who went by the user name of AIG had his complete top end "dynamically" balanced, the thread might still be available
